Tandem Cycling for Everyone

New York City’s only dedicated tandem cycling program — connecting sighted riders with cyclists who are blind or have low vision for weekly rides, events, and community.

InTandem Cycling is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide tandem cycling programs to people who are blind, have low vision, or cannot ride independently due to other disabilities.

Get Involved

A group of cyclists in team gear and helmets pose for a selfie outdoors.

Become a Captain

Captains ride up front and provide safe navigation. Meet new people and share your joy of cycling with people who might otherwise be stuck on the sideline. InTandem provides a thorough training on bike safety, tandem riding techniques and communication, and disability awareness.
Six adults in cycling gear and helmets pose and smile for a group selfie on a sidewalk outside a storefront with large windows. One person holds a white cane. A city street and buildings are visible in the background.

Become a Stoker

Stokers sit on the back of the tandem and ‘stoke the engine,’ powering the bike. If you cannot ride a bike independently, try riding a tandem with one of our well-trained captains. We will provide you with an individualized orientation and provide necessary accommodations. No cycling experience is necessary.
Seven people stand in front of a building, all wearing cycling gear and race numbers. Five wear matching In Tandem shirts. They are smiling and posing for the photo in bright sunlight.

Volunteer with InTandem

Even if you are not a cycling enthusiast, there are many opportunities for you to volunteer with InTandem. Come watch and care for guide dogs while their owners ride, ensure everyone gets an equal opportunity and help out as needed.
